Brookes first day of preschool!

Today was Brookes first day of preschool! She has been looking forward to this day for months! When she woke up, she started to get nervous and fought me a little bit. but we made it through and by the time we left, she was excited! We met her dad at my moms, since my mom lives right by the school and she ate her breakfast. Then we left for school! When we got there, she just could not wait to get in the room! she ran ahead of us the whole time! She was decked out in her Hannah Montana outfit and her iCarly backpack, and her hair was done all cute! When we walked into the classroom, she got all shy, but it didnt take long for her to warm up. we waited about 10 minutes and then we heard her telling the girl how to spell her name! So we decided she was fine and we snuck out. We went back to pick her up and she was so excited to see us! She said she had so much fun! She learned the bumblebee song, played with all the toys, listened to an Elmo story, and she cant remember what else! Thursday is her Halloween party and she is extremely excited about that! I will post more pics soon!

The newest addition....

ALYSSA NICOLE MORTENSEN

Mortensen/Newkirk Family Reunion

On August 26th, we went to a Mortensen/Newkirk Family Reunion in Idaho. We camped out for 4 days! It was so nice seeing everyone together! Shane and Lisa rented out a group area for us to camp in so we would have plenty of privacy and we sure did! We had a HUGE area to camp in and we all gathered in one little corner! All the kids played great together and had tons of fun getting dirty and wet! They all loved the campfire! Steve took the girls fishing because they had been begging to go for a month, and they had so much fun! They were bummed because they didnt catch anything when they reeled in, so Steve had this great idea to put the little bait fish on the hooks when they werent looking and cast it out so they could reel them in! They each got a turn and thought it was so awesome that they caught a little tiny fish!

Our new Swingset!

Stephanie and Katies mom gave Steve the money to buy a swingset for them for Katies Birthday. We looked at a few stores and we went to walmart to see what they had and we found a swingset that someone had returned. the box was ripped a little, but it was one of the 599.99 swingsets and it was on clearance for 220.00! we decided to take the chance with it because it was wood and we could just buy a piece if it was missing any. it turned out to have all the pieces and the girls love it! it has a little clubhouse and i look out the window and see them all sitting in there together alot! it is awesome and it was such a great deal! we had a few people helping with it, but Steve and his Cousin Jeff did most of it. they were up until 3 a.am for 3 days straight! it had a ton of pieces!

Our Trip to Bear World in Idaho!

Steve and I drove up to visit his parents in Idaho recently, and they took us to Bear World. It was so awesome! The Bears just walk right outside your car! And we took a ride on this Huge truck that is high enough that the Bears can't climb in. We all got to feed them treats and watched them do some tricks! All the girls loved it and thought it was so neat! They had a petting zoo also and they got to pet all sorts of animals! Brooke loved feeding the white goat! I didnt thik she ould even go near it, but she fed him right out of her hand! Katie loved chasing the turkeys! They ran so fast! she couldn't catch them! Steph liked all the animals. She really liked petting the big fat pig! They had some rides for the kids to ride on also, and they had so much fun! You might see Steves sister Crystal in some of the pics, because she rode on most of the rides with the kids while we took pictures! It was also Steves birthday a couple days after we left there, so his mom bought him a birthday cake for that. It looked so awesome! We had such a good visit up there! I just love his family and I wish they were closer so we can visit more! Thank You Guys for a wonderful mini-vacation!
